Lost and Found Hostel
Valle de las Minas, Chiriquí, Panama
We are NOT in Boquete! We are off the beaten track but easy to find. We are on Highway 10 to Bocas del Toro and in the perfect location to break up your long haul to the Bocas islands. Stop by if you want many of the same activities as Boquete but don't want to back track. If you arrive after dark (7pm) make sure you have a flashlight! Remember the last bus from David to our hostel (Bocas/Changuinola bus) is at 7pm!
If you are travelling via local bus please be aware that if you are coming from Bocas del Toro the bus should cost around $8.00 (plus $0.50 per bag), and if you are coming from David the bus should cost around $3.50, (plus $0.50 per bag).
Now that you are here…
It is a 15 minute uphill hike, starting right from the local fruit and vegetable market. If you need help with your luggage, the family that owns the fruit and vegetable market can help you for a small fee. Come in daylight or bring a flashlight for a bit of nighttime adventure.

David To The Lost and Found - 1.5 hours ($3.50)
OPTION 1At the main terminal in David find the bus to Changuinola. This is the bus that takes tourists to Bocas del Toro so helpful Panamanians will likely help you find this bus. Let the driver know you want to go to The Lost and Found. They know who we are. After 60 or more minutes you come to a toll booth in a town called Valle de la Mina, 2 minutes past that on your left side is our sign, near kilometer 42. Near the local fruit and vegetable stand is the path that will take you to our hostel. When buses are full, however, drivers may want to fill seats with passengers going all the way to Bocas. No problem, there is another option.
OPTION 2At the same terminal, about 100 meters away is another bus to the town of Gualaca. For two dollars the driver will take you to the pretty town of Gualaca. Let them know you are going to The Lost and Found or Hornito and they will drop you near the end of their run at a little Chinese supermarket (El Chino) where you will catch the bus that says “Hornito”. Again tell them you are going to The Lost and Found - they know us.
Bocas del Toro to The Lost and Found - 3 hours ($8)
Option 1Take the bus heading to David. Eventually you come to a lake/dam called Fortuna. 10 to 15 minutes after that you will see our sign on your right and a local fruit and vegetable market near kilometer 42. The bus driver should know who we are.
Option 2Even easier… if you plan to go to Boquete but want to stay at The Lost and Found a few days then Hola Panama runs a shuttle that acts as a kind of Hop on Hop off bus for Panama. The bus costs around $30 and takes you right to the main path of our hostel. Stay at our hostel then catch the same bus to Boquete. It works just as well in reverse as well. Boquete to the Lost and Found
Option 1Just take the yellow school bus at the main square in Boquete to David (Less than an hour) then follow the directions above to get to us. Very easy.

Santa Catalina to the Lost and Found
You will need to take the early bus to Sona and catch a second bus to Santiago. In Santiago you will need to catch a third bus to David. Scroll up on this page for directions from David to The Lost and Found. We made a video to make it easier. If you have a reservation and miss the last bus please let us know. If you get stuck in David we recommend Bambu hostel. You can find their information HERE.
Panama City to the Lost and Found - 7 hours ($15-$18)
From Panama City simple take one of the hourly buses to David. Many of our guests have recommended the night buses to David. Bring a jacket, as Panamanians like to keep their buses cold!
Costa Rica to the Lost and Found - 9 hours ($26)
To reach The Lost and Found coming from San Jose you must first reach David, Panama. If you are coming from the Caribbean side of Costa Rica follow the directions in the Bocas del Toro to The Lost and Found section. From the main terminal in San Jose simply take any bus going to David, Panama. Tica and Tracopa run daily. We recommend Tracopa. HERE is their schedule. Depending on what time you book you may want to spend the night in David because you need to catch a bus to The Lost and Found from David before 7 pm. We recommend Bambu Hostel.
