The vampire bat found in Panama is primarily the common vampire bat, Desmodus rotundus. It is one of only three true vampire bat species in the world, and it is the only one that specializes in feeding on the blood of mammals. The other two vampire species primarily feed on birds. The common vampire bat is native to tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas and has been part of the natural history of Central and South America for a very long time.

But the bats aren't interested in drinking your blood

Humans are not the vampire bat's preferred food.

The common vampire bat specializes in mammals, and livestock can provide a much easier source of food than a human. They don't even live like the vampires in movies
